Do You Know What Time It Is?

October 03, 2012

It’s crunch time!  Our Kickstarter deadline is LESS THAN ONE WEEK AWAY! We’re over halfway to our goal but we need your help to get us all the way there.  Because of the way Kickstarter works, if we don’t at least hit our goal, we don’t get any of the money.

We started making this movie because we thought the voices of some New Orleanians needed to be heard.  We’re running this campaign to raise enough money to get the film in theaters.  Help get this movie and these voices out there!

Every single pledge really does make a difference.

You know how moving this film is.  You know how important the story is.  Please consider making a donation through our Kickstarter campaign to help us reach our goal and share the film with others.

If you’ve already pledged to help get The Whole Gritty City made, thank you!  If you’re not able to pledge this time around you can still help!  Even sharing word about the campaign with your friends, family and colleagues can make a big difference.

"The Whole Gritty City" is a documentary feature film now nearing completion. It tells the story of three New Orleans marching bands, whose directors prepare kids for Mardi Gras parades, and battle for their lives and souls.

To complete the film this fall and release it early in 2013 the filmmakers need to raise finishing funds. So they've just launched a new Kickstarter campaign running from September 10th to October 10th.

If you have a moment, please check out the trailer for the film and consider donating to their Kickstarter campaign.  Even if you're not able to donate, just sharing information about the project and the Kickstarter campaign would also be a great help!

A nearly-completed version of The Whole Gritty City recently got a strong positive reaction from “The Wire” and “Treme” creator David Simon. Here’s some of it:

"Gritty City is glorious. Alternately heartbreaking and joyous, one instant to the next."

We'll keep adding updates on Facebook and Twitter as we get more interviews and celebrity friends involved.  Please feel free to reach out to us directly with any questions or suggestions anytime.  We love hearing from you!

Thank you!
